A thorough evaluation is essential in diagnosing neurodevelopmental disorders such as:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Dyslexia and other learning disorders<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Autistic spectrum disorders<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Dementia<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Emotional Disorders<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-373 alignright\" title=\"SAW_086\" src=\"http:\/\/stevenalterpsychology.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/SAW_086.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"291\" height=\"316\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stevenalterpsychology.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/SAW_086.jpg 291w, https:\/\/stevenalterpsychology.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/SAW_086-276x300.jpg 276w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 291px) 100vw, 291px\" \/><\/div>\n<p><strong>In order to answer complex diagnostic questions, evaluations involve:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>A detailed history of the individual\u2019s learning difficulties, including gathering past school and medical reports.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Administration of a battery of standardized measures suited to the referral question.\u00a0 These include\u2026\u2026Personality measures and projective tests may be used to explore the emotional aspects of a problem.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>A detailed report will be prepared (not offered)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Specific recommendations will be presented, including referrals to\u00a0<\/strong><strong>resources you need such as schools, advocates or tutors.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Recommendations often include necessary academic accommmodations such as additional time on standaraized tests or use of assistive technology.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><em>I work closely with educational advocates to insure that struggling students receive an education that reflects their specific needs.
